School garden boxes

Last week Andy,Adrian and Grant came out to build the garden boxes for our veggie garden. They are 3m by 1m and we think they are great. But we have a problem, but we don't have any top soil and we need it for the plants so they can grow.

                                                           One Scary Night

The wind blew softly. But as the leaves rustled and the wind howled, a loud roar rattled the ground. All the kids let out a loud shriek of fear. The ground rattled, kids screaming"it's an earth quake!" All of the vast landscape started to crack. Trees, rocks repeatedly fell to the ground. The madness was over with relief. Birds resumed their chirping. Everyone acted like nothing had happened. I wondered of it was real?. I started to hear Ryan, Ryan. I awake from my deep slumber, I find out I was daydreaming and quite a scary one.

The Mystery Person

I crept through the forest with my dog Jack. He was a Jack Russell. He loved going for walks in the dark pine cone village of trees on our farm. It was a very nice day but there was some wind. "Woof woof," barked Jack. I couldn't see or hear anything. But as the leaves rustled, I could see something moving. Then Jack started moving towards it so I followed him. I could hear breathing. I also saw some black clothes behind the shrub. I tried pulling the bush away but it wouldn't move...

Boo!

Halloween night had finally arrived. Lyric was jumping for joy and Luka's teeth were chattering with fear. "Hey Luka we should go to the dark and mysterious house that everyone is afraid to go to!" exclaimed Lyric. Luka agreed. They walked up the stairs of the house. But as the leaves rustled, they heard a voice from inside. "Come in," it whispered. Lyric slowly opened the door.
"Boo!" shouted a voice from inside. Suddenly the girls started crying and they both agreed that they would never come back again.

Blonde, Little Stranger

As the sun rose, the crispy, autumn leaves settled on the ground, until another big gust of wind would blow them away again. Suddenly a blonde, little stranger named Sophie ambled by. Nearly home from her morning walk, and kicking the leaves in her pathway. "Come on mummy!" Sophie demanded. Just when the last and final pile of leaves were an arms reach away, she kicked. But as the leaves rustled she stopped. Her eyes glued to the leaves. For right in front of her, peeking out from the pile of leaves was a stray, black cat. It was meowing continuously from all the confusion. Carefully picking up the black cat, she took it home.

Awoken Storm

I was jogging home from school. I took a little break to catch my breath. Walking to the pohutukawa tree, I wanted to sit in the cool shade as the wind blew in my face. But as the leaves rustled and black clouds came over me I knew a storm was making its way over. Leaning next to the rusty bark while shivering cold, a thought struck me; I reached for my phone and dialed my mum's number and begged her to pick me up. "OK, I will come pick you up," she promised.
"Thanks I owe you one," I replied.

The Man

One summer day Zac was out for a walk in the park. He was walking his dog. There was no wind. But as the leaves rustled Zac knew that it was peculiar. He saw it move again then out jumped a man! He was holding a knife. Zac dodged it and jumped at the man. He punched, kicked and elbowed the man. Zac pulled his arm behind his back in an excruciating lock then asked the man, "What's you name?" He didn't tell Zac so he kicked him in the temple and knocked him cold.

Cardboard Challenge

We recently watched a video about Caine's Arcade, made out entirely of cardboard. That then inspired us to create our own creation with cardboard. We decided to create out very own hot it balloon. We used a Huggies nappy box, straws, glow in the dark string,  balloons, feathers for decoration and some more little knick-knacks.

We had to create a game or something else that was mainly made out of cardboard. We were inspired by caines arcade and the egg car add. All of us got into groups of three and started making our things. We made our car out of egg cartons and cardboard wheels. We then put our driver Barry the egg in. Charlie and George started to make the grandstand full of nobody out of cardboard egg cartons for seats and a stick to hold it up. We thought of making a car but then we thought that would be to hard so then we saw the car safety ad and then we got the idea of making a car test arena.

Yesterday sammyo TJ and adam watched a video called Kane's arcade and we made a shooting range out of cars board #sammyo adamant TJ

 Yesterday  (20-11-14) we made a mantion out of: cardboard, lights, skewers, cello tape, string, bubble wrap, a container (plastic) and a straw. We made a cardboard creation because on our kids ed chat Twitter discussion we had a cardboard challeng to do. This was brought up because of Caines arcade in the states. We watched a video of it on the kidsedchat blog.

In class when we were listening to our audio conference we had to write a question down at the end that we would like to find out now. Miss Phillips said answer your question from today or yesterday. I answered my question from yesterday. My question was, why are icebergs fresh water not sea water and my answer was, when the water freezes it frezzes slowly. Slowly enough to not trap the salt in the iceberg.

One day I went to the swimming pools and i saw green cat that had a diaper. I lifted him out of the pool and discovered one of his bones got broken day I went to the swimming pools and i saw green cat that had a diaper on he was very attractive to the other cats he is the only cat in the world that is green and wears a diaper he was so attractive that the swimming pools almost turned into a cats pool. The pools were filled with noises meow meow meow it was bonkers I tried to stop the but there were to many of the that they were really noisy that they couldn't hear me.

Charlotte's 100WC

I arrived home from basketball practice. When I got home I walked into my bedroom and saw that my swimming trophy was broken. I was cranky. My cat was sitting on my green bed with little bits of plastic around him .I was sure it was him. I called mum and told her to bring a broom. She swept up the little bits and lifted up the bin to put in the big ones. Still feeling outraged about what my cat had done, I went to find my dog Lucy for a hug.

                                                  GREEN SWIMMING CAT.

One mysterious day a GREEN SWIMMING CAT appeared out of know where. All of a sudden there was a pool it was LIFTED randomly into our back yard and in the pool was the GREEN SWIMMING CAT. My heart started pounding. I wasn't sure what was going on. As the cat was getting out I went away. Then my brother ran in and yelled out ''the cats BROKEN its leg.''

''Okay I'll call the vets!''said Sophia 

''How long is the vet gonna be?'' Asked Mom.

''They said about five.'' Sophia answered.

"Here they are." Yelled Billy.

I was swimming in the lanes of the pool. I stopped for a little break and out of the corner of my eyes I saw a bengal cat. I got myself out of the pool got changed. There it was again. It was staggering around the pool. It came to be I lifted up the cat and decided to keep it.

I took it for a stroll. I took my shoes off to feel the lush green grass. We saw a broken tree at the park. I stopped I gazed at the broken tree. Then the cat was gone.

Richards awesome 100 word challenge about a scary haunted house

I reach the haunted house it was painted a dark slimy green most of the windows were broken as I opened the door a little black cat came pouncing out and it scratched me it gave me an awful fright the door creaked and inside was pitch black lucky I brought my torch with me I walked in with exitment I was walking around for a while then I saw a chest I lifted the latch and there was bones in the chest.i screamed and ran into the kichen I looked out the broken window and there was a swimming pool.

LEARNZ Virtual Field Trip

We are going to Antarctica!!!! Well, virtually anyway.

From 3rd-7th November we will be involved in a virtual field trip to Antarctica. During this time we will Skype the scientists and other people down there, take part in audio conferences with other schools and see live videos of different things happening.

Here is a list of things we get to do

• travel to Antarctica aboard a giant C17 Globemaster
• complete a survival training course
• travel and work with scientists to see science in action
• go diving through holes in the sea ice
• visit penguin colonies
• visit seal haul-outs
• go fishing, take photographs and collect samples
• discover how energy moves through Antarctic marine food webs
• investigate whether plant life formed in sea ice is an important food source for coastal animals in Antarctica
• work with scientists trying to find answers to questions about climate change
• collect specimens and work with them in the laboratory at Scott Base

We are really excited. Today we have been brainstorming questions to ask about the Science in Antarctica. Has anybody else got an idea of a good question we could ask??

Using minecraft could be a cool way of learning at school

I strongly believe that minecraft should be used in schools

Firstly it is motivating for your learning because it is a fun game so it would make you want to do your school work even more Secondly you can use it for a range of learning purposes And finally you can work with other people on multiplayer so they can help you out if your stuck on something.

Minecraft in schools would be motivating because it is a fun game to play so it would make people want to do their work even more. Kiwi kids news said that over 200 schools are using minecraft in the uk.

Minecraft can be used for a range of learning.math games,creativity and more. schools in the UK get to write a story about their experiece on minecraft

 

Minecraft is very people orientated, and so is very good at getting people to work together on projects. this is a good skill to learn in life. 

I an adamant that minecraft should be used in schools. Firstly it is motivating for your learning because it is a fun game to play so it would make you want to do your work even more. Secondly you can use it for a range of learning and finally you can play multiplayer with others so they can help if you are having trouble.

I just got comfy when the flight attend handed me my hot chocolate I could not believe the smell it smelt heavenly. I heard on the speaker “Two hours until departure”

 I reached  out my book and started to read. I got tired of reading I got my phone and put on my head phones and started to watch a movie. We got of the plane I took my bags of the plane and we made our way to the hotel.

Moping around the living room with nothing to do was not the most brilliant way of spending the first day of the holidays. "Take the rubbish out!" Dad boomed from the shower. It had already started raining. I stepped outside into the cool, damp air. Holding the rubbish bag in one hand, and my one-eyes teddy bear in the other I made my way down the driveway. Leave the rubbish bag on the ground I decided to peer inside, then I took a whiff. I froze. Rotten baked beams and a full diaper...I couldn't believe the smell!!

Charlotte's 100 Word Challenge

I wake up to the soft touch of a kitten rubbing against me. I suddenly remember what's for breakfast; toast with a poached egg and pepper on top. I push the orange kittens out of my way like I'm trying to run away from a crocodile. Out of nowhere I forget where the kitchen is and crash into the wall. I get out of bed and I say to myself, "That was a good dream!"

I've now FORGOT if it was a picture or a real croc. I stroll over to mum she says " some PEPPER  had something in it and Angus ate it so they are going to have to do surgery on Angus. I start balling my eyes out. She hushes me and says it'll be all right.

The queen walked into the castle with her eyes glued to the crocodiles circling around in the moat. The vivacious jester greeted her and led her to the soft, orange chair. The jester ran madly to the kitchen to Her Majesty dinner. He returned. The queen took one look at it and screamed, "You forgot the pepper! Bring it to me now or else!" He brought it to her as quickly as he could.

100 Word Challenge by Ashton Reid

This week for the 100 Word Challenge we have to include the words crocodile, pepper, orange, forgot and soft.

"AHHHHHHHHH!" I screamed. I had to tell someone about this. The next day I told Richard. "What did it look like?" he asked.

"Well it was orange and covered in pepper for some reason," I answered. 

"Anything else?" he asked . 

"Well, it didn't have any scales, if had fur instead." 

"That's one weird crocodile" Richard said. The next day I found the crocodile again but this time it bit me! "Help," I whispered, but It was too late as I fell into a deep sleep and forgot everything !!!

100 Word Challenge by Tyler

This week the 100 Word Challenge is to use the words pepper, crocodile, orange, forgot and soft.

Yesterday I spied I vivacious kid skipping to a creek, carrying a soft pillow and eating an orange. "Aaaargh!" screamed the little boy as he got devoured by a gargantuan crocodile. I dashed towards the creek and threw pepper on the crocodile. As it lingered in its nostrils, it coughed out the little boy. "What happened?" we asked. Obviously he forgot! I explained what happened and he was petrified.

Josh's Camp

I have just got from camp in Rotorua. I was there for three weeks. 

While I was there I had a teacher who did magic. He blew up a balloon and put it in the hot water as it was starting to go down. When he took it out of the hot water it started to go up again. I don't know how he did it. 

At school we looked at lots of cool inventions. When I was at school we had to design a three wheeled bike that could go underwater. Then we got to make it out of steel and plastic bottles. We saw a jet pack that a guy down South had made. It was cool. There was a floating car in China too. 

I went to see the dogs and cats and read them books. 

I made some new friends too. We talked and played together. 

When I went in the whare I would always keep working and clean up. Isaac would always tell me to stop working and have a rest.

A visit from NZ Playhouse

Today the NZ Playhouse came to visit us. They performed a show called RAP-unzel.the story was about Simon Cow who was hosting a show called a land far far away. Repunzel entered in the show and was the winner.in Simon Cows contract it said she had to do all sorts of stuff,so she said no. Then Simon Cow locked her up in a tower and stole her singing voice. Then the prince from the royal palace who likes to rap and not sing cause he has a bad singing voice. Repunzel  told the prince that she can not sing either. The two then teamed up and stopped simon cow from his evil sceams. THE END.
