Simple Machines




Simple Machines
 

 

 
For science this term we have been learning about Simple Machines. We have learnt that they are all around us and help us to do things everyday. There are 6 types of simple machines-wheel and axle, levers, pulleys, inclined planes, wedges and screws.

 

We made catapults because these are an example of a lever. You have a load, effort and fulcrum. 3…2…1… Fire! We had a competition to see whose catapult could launch a ball of paper the longest distance...






 









 
 
Cars have wheels and axles and we made these as part of our homework. Here are some photos…
 
 
Using all our knowledge about Simple Machines we created Chain Reaction Contraptions. In these we used a number of different simple machines to create one complex machine.
